Soaring Heights

(recycled cardboard boxes, variable dimensions, April 2015)

1 bald eagle cut out = 40 pairs of bald eagles

This piece, which was custom designed for the Sequoia Park Zoo in Eureka, CA, tells the story of the progression of the bald eagle populations. In the 1960's populations of the revered bald eagle were suffering, leaving the species to be deemed "endangered".

Thanks to grassroots movements to spread knowledge about these majestic animals the populations saw gradual increases throughout each decade. Once again the populations of bald eagles in North America are healthy and flourishing.

No new materials were used in this installation in order to express the interrelation of human activity to species populations.
